Preparing for Rhinoplasty Before and After

June 27th, 2010

Preparing for Rhinoplasty before and after is a procedure that is important for every patient.

Marked for RhinoplastyThink about rhinoplasty before and after first, cause rhinoplasty surgery is a plastic surgery procedure which applies several techniques in order to reshape how a person’s nose looks.

People, who do not like, in any way, the size, the contours or symmetry of their nose can get the best rhinoplasty procedure that is available. It is important to remember, however, that this particular cosmetic procedure is not for everybody. As with any other procedure, there are things to consider, preparing oneself for rhinoplasty surgery before or after.

First, is that both Rhinoplasty and non surgical Rhinoplasty is a form of an elective surgery. This means, that most insurance does not cover any problems that may arise after rhinoplasty. People choose to undergo this cosmetic procedure in order to achieve results that are purely aesthetic in nature. However, it is nonetheless, a surgical procedure. And as with every kind of surgical procedure, rhinoplasty before and after ought to be taken very seriously and steps must be taken in order to prepare for it. In order to mentally prepare for what would happen in rhinoplasty before and after, a preliminary mental preparation which involves extensive research on the procedure. Rhinoplasty Surgery – What to Consider When Putting A Nose Under Surgeons Knife

Face marked for RhinoplastyLike other cosmetic surgical procedures, rhinoplasty surgery used to be exclusive to only the wealthy and privileged who could afford it. Rhinoplasty surgery by rhinoplasty specialist can still cost tens of thousands of dollars, but now even the not-so-rich and famous are now electing to correct their aesthetic flaws, using rhinoplasty surgery. We can often envy someone who has been gifted with almost-perfect looks. This envy can lead to a desire to achieve that same appearance and while there is often a lot of pain and discomfort involved after the procedure, the final results are usually undisputed.

Rhinoplasty before and after a procedure can sometimes result in remarkable differences in facial appearance but can also affect the way you breath since it involves your nasal passages. Whether it is done for aesthetic purposes or for reconstructive purposes to correct birth defects, trauma or dealing with breathing problems, there are things that you should do in order to prepare for rhinoplasty surgery.

Choosing your rhinoplasty specialist will be your first step toward getting the best rhinoplasty surgery for you. Your surgeon for rhinoplasty surgery should be a member of The American Board of Plastic Surgery, have at least six years of experience in his field, and be willing to discuss any and all questions that you might have about rhinoplasty surgery. Ask about all the possible options to how the rhinoplasty surgery will be performed.

Remember that rhinoplasty surgery involves the alteration of the nose by changing its size or shape. Have your doctor show you plastic surgery before and after diagrams so that you can have an idea of what the end result could look like. Discuss any possible complications of rhinoplasty surgery that might arise during and after the procedure. It is important to be as well informed in rhinoplasty surgery as you can be before going under the knife. Do not be shy since you are the one who’s going to be paying for your rhinoplasty surgery.

There are two kinds of procedures with rhinoplasty surgery: Open Rhinoplasty and Closed Rhinoplasty. Open rhinoplasty surgery provides the surgeon with more access to reshaping the cartilage and nose but does leave some visible scarring. This procedure is preferred when there has been trauma to the nose or if there are complications that can make it difficult if done otherwise. Closed rhinoplasty surgery is the more traditional procedure of the two and does not leave any visible scarring. Of course there won’t be as much freedom but there will still be many possibilities to reshaping the nose with rhinoplasty surgery.

Rhinoplasty surgery is considered major surgery and during the process you will be put under anesthesia. There is  a possibility of infection, uncontrolled bleeding, problems with anesthesia and even death. However this is true of almost any surgical procedure so this should be no cause for alarm. Rhinoplasty surgery may be the solution for your problems.

After Rhinoplasty – What You Should Know About

Rhinoplasty SurgeonRhinoplasty before and after photos show the results of plastic surgery to the nasal area – this type of cosmetic or plastic surgery is also called a “nose job.” After Rhinoplasty images show the subtle to drastic range of effects this type of operation has on a person’s facial features, as after rhinoplasty may be utilized to balance the overall proportions of the face. One of the benefits experienced by many an individual who goes under the knife for a nose job is a boost in confidence or self-esteem, due to the improvements to a person’s appearance. After rhinoplasty you should feel better, and after rhinoplasty the self-confidence should be bigger.

After Rhinoplasty surgery may entail one, some, or all of the following procedures: the increase or decrease of the size or angle of the bridge of the nose, alterations to the size of the nose, or modifications to the size or shape of the individual’s nostrils. The best rhinoplasty specialists are no longer difficult to find nowadays, as many websites for such specialists may list testimonials from clients after rhinoplasty, as well as rhinoplasty before and after pictures that show the difference the operation makes.

The cost after rhinoplasty may differ from surgeon to surgeon, especially when one considers other aspects of the operation. Overall, a rhinoplasty specialist may include pre-op and post-op services which can change the bill from a previously quoted price. One may also see that non surgical and surgical rhinoplasty differs in terms of the range of prices a specialist charges – this may be due to the technologies involved in the operation, as well as the amount and type of anesthetic used to sedate the patient.

Viable candidates for this type of surgery need to be at least fourteen to fifteen years old for females, and just slightly older as for the males. Some physical maturity is required in candidates for rhinoplasty, as the nasal bone needs to have matured, and its development stabilized for the surgery to be a long-term success. While many opt to undergo this kind of surgery for cosmetic reasons, some patients may require a nose job for physiological reasons, such as the fixing of structural defects in the nasal region.

Rhinoplasty before and after often shows a drastic change in the individual’s facial appearance, although some go back for second or multiple operations, which are known as revision rhinoplasty. This kind of rhinoplasty may be undergone due to bad nose jobs, or the client’s dissatisfaction with his or her previous operation.

If one needs a rhinoplasty surgery, but is unable to cover the costs associated with such an operation, rhinoplasty financing is available. There are tons of options for the would-be patient with this kind of financial aid, with some being short or long-term loans, as well as no-interest loans for a certain payment duration.

People are lying/misled/confused when it comes to what they consider their aesthetic preferences?

People constantly claim they would rather choose certain/particular features, ie, facial features etc – which are simply the STEREOTYPICAL and GENERALISTIC perceptions of what society would choose

No. Most prefer what they prefer and know why they do so..

Lisa asks…

What do you think of the nose job before and after pics?

I’ve always HAATTED my nose. It looks bad from basically all angles. It really bugs me so I’m going to get it fixed. I went for a consultation with the plastic surgeon’s assistant and she came up with this image for my nose job. I’m a little worried and I’m curious about the little bit of webbing beneath my nose and if that will diminish or if I have to request it.

At any rate what do you think of the images

P. S. This isn’t my natural nose, I broke it on the monkey bars when I was younger and it grew in strange. Also, I was on acne medication that dried me out. I’m not on it anymore and have cleared up.

Alisa answers:

I see what you mean by the little bit of webbing, but i didn’t notice that until you pointed it out. And besides with all the improvement it does for your face, that seems petty, it really is a great change for you. I would go for it! It makes you look 5x more put together and a whole lot less dorky xD. You should do it.

Maria asks…

Guys, be honest. Is my nose a turnoff? (pics)?

Hello, ladies and gentleman. I am 15 and when I was about 10 years old, I was in an auto accident and broke my nose. The cartilage was broken and displaced and my septum is deviated. Now not only is my nose crooked, but it looks really big, sticks out, and the tip droops like a hook. It looks like a witch.

People, even random kids, always feel the need to tell me how big my nose looks now. At school they called me Gonzo. It has made me very self-conscious. I would get a nose job in an instant but I can’t afford it. So tell me, would a nose like mine turn you off and make you think I was ugly?

What About Non Surgical Rhinoplasty?

September 6th, 2011

Ken asks…

How much do you think Non Surgical Rhinoplasty (nose job) would cost?

I heard that non surgical Rhinoplasty is safer than Surgical Rhinoplasty. But I want to know an estimate of how much it would cost.

non surgical rhinoplasty

Alisa answers:

Depends on where you’re located and which surgeon you choose.

Michael asks…

Can non surgical rhinoplasty treat (Minuscule) bone bumps on the nose?

I just have one bone bump on my nose. It’s not that noticeable; it’s really small, like less han 1mm, or maybe 1mm. But it’s there and I hate it

I read that non surgical rhinoplasty treats with botox, but I just want them to eliminate the bone since it’s small. Do they do that?

non surgical rhinoplasty

Alisa answers:

You cannot shave your bone down without going under the skin, why in the world you’d want less than 1mm shaved from it is beyond me. Look outward instead of inward, there’s a whole world out there.

Paul asks…

How much do you think Non surgical Rhinoplasty cost?

I broke my nose and now it’s a little messed up. I wanted to go the safe way, and I know th injection only last for months or maybe a year, but it looks really bad, and i wanted to know an estimate of how much non surgical rhinoplasty might be.

non surgical rhinoplasty

Alisa answers:

You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here – health-quotes.isgreat.org

Mary asks…

I need information on non surgical rhinoplasty?

I am a 13 year old girl and Im turning 14 really soon. I was considering the non surgical rhinoplasty, but I need some help. How old do you have to be to go under non surgical rhinoplasty, and how much does it cost?

non surgical rhinoplasty

Alisa answers:

Unless you really need it, why adjust the way your nose looks? I think 13 is a bit young to get plastic surgery on unless its necessary.

Richard asks…

Can a 14 year old get a non surgical rhinoplasty (nose job) in Michigian?

and where?

non surgical rhinoplasty

Alisa answers:

A 14 year old can get the Non Surgical Nose Job procedure but, like with any medical procedure for someone under 18, the parents have to consent to it and, preferably, accompany the patient. I have done about 1000 Non Surgical Rhinoplasty procedures, and a few have been on patients as young as 13 and 14. They came with their parents and were happy afterwards because their nose looked better without having to go through surgery. Their parents were happy because the procedure is temporary and is not permanently changing the nose or causing problems as their son or daughter grows. I do not know of anyone in Michigan, though, and I am in Los Angeles.

Chris asks…

Has anyone tried the non surgical rhinoplasty? And where did you go LA area?

I want my nose to look pointier

non surgical rhinoplasty

Alisa answers:

I’ve tried the Non Surgical Rhinoplasty and I’m really satisfied with the results. I needed more definition in my nose and so I went to see Dr. Alexander Rivkin at Westside Aesthetics. My results were subtle and the procedure was so quick, I highly recommend him.

Info About Rhinoplasty Specialist in Q & A

August 25th, 2011

Mandy asks…

What’s the best way to find a rhinoplasty specialist?

I’m in Austin, TX and looking for a plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty. Are there any associations that “matter” more than others? For example, a friend said to only consult with surgeons who are members of the ADA; but many of the plastic surgeons I’ve found online aren’t, but there’s many who are members of the “American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery” and others similar to that. Do these matter? Are some “credentials” better than others, if so, which do I pay attention to? Thanks!

Rhinoplasty Specialist

Alisa answers:

What you want to look for is a board certified plastic surgeon certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery. A good surgeon – Rhinoplasty Specialist -  will not just try to talk you into surgery for the sake of taking your money either. They will try to find out the reasons for your decision for a consultation and tell you all the risks and benefits of the surgery it’s self. Check with the ABPS for a certified surgeon in your area.

Thomas asks…

Im looking for a rhinoplasty revision specialist in ANY state that has had lots of experience on ethnic noses.

Sandy asks…

Are there ethnic rhinoplasty specialist either Santiago Chile or in Buenos Aires Argentina?

Yes.

Daniel asks…

What is the right way to find a good Plastic Surgeon?

I’m looking around for a Rhinoplasty specialist ( Nose Job ). What is the appropriate way of researching (website’s) also I need to find one in Oregon? Please help

Rhinoplasty Specialist

Alisa answers:

Ask your family doctor to recommend someone as rhinoplasty specialist. And talk to people you know. Many people you know might have some knowledge of someone in your area.

Steven asks…

rhinoplasty question?

I had septoplasty and endocscopic surgery done recently but I made a big mistake because I didnt get rhinoplasty along with it. I read some were that if you get rhinoplasty with septoplasty the insurance company would pay for the hospital and anesthesia fees.

The middle part of my nose is bent to the right..I would like to get this corrected. My question is if I go to a ent rhinoplasty specialist who is in my health insurance plan would I be able to get the ent to do the cosmetic operation and pay him for the surgery and have my health insurance pay for the anesthesia and hospital fees?
I would assume I have alot better chance of getting some health insurance coverage since I am not going to a cosmetic plastic surgeon who is outside of my network.

Rhinoplasty Specialist

Alisa answers:

Your assumption is probably wrong. In order to know for sure, though, you would have to check with your insurance provider. Some cover cosmetic surgery. Others cover it when it’s part of a medical procedure. Still others won’t cover it at all.

Nose Job - Questions + Answers

August 14th, 2011

Betty asks…

Do you think plastic surgery is okay?

I just watched a clip on youtube showing Angelina Jolie before and after (nose job, chin, eyebrows). On one hand, I do think in some ways she looks more beautiful now, but sometimes her face looks angular and kinda fake. I’m curious what people think about this nose job  and whether or not you would want to get plastic surgery?

nose job

Alisa answers:

Yes.
If it makes someone feel better about themselves, why not doing a nose job?

I used to be against it.
Not anymore (:

James asks…

Does a nose job help you look younger?

I have always had a bump and though it made me look older, but I never though a nose job would make a dramitic difference. Until I saw a video on Youtube where this girl was pretty but JUST after a nose job looked 5 years younger and sexy and hot, not just pretty…So am I crazy or do you agree that it makes some noses that used to have a bump look younger and more femine? Here is a link to one clinics before and after pictures:

http://www.orangecountycosmeticsurgery.com/procedure-images/nose-surgery.htm

So just tell me if it does look younger and more femine, PLEZ NOTHING EXTRA ABOUT INNER BEAUTY, thnx!

Linda asks…

Is it Stress? or what!??!?!?!?!?!?

I’ve had a bad cold, for the past week. I’ve been coughing, had stuffed nose, etc.

I started thinking about my breathing, so now it feels like I’m having trouble breathing.

A few days before I caught the cold, I was at the regular doctor and the pulminologist.

They both said I sounded great, and the pulminologist said I did great on the spirometer test.

I have aortic stenosis/regurg. and I called my Cardiologist, to see what he though. He told me I need anti anxiety medication, and told me my heart is strong, and nothing bad will happen to me.

I trust him. I do have severe panic disorder, and I suffer about once a month from being a hypochondriac.

My Peak Flow meter says I’m at 550-600, which is really good for me.

What could it be?

Muscle? Stress?

I literally am at the doctor every week. I’m so tired of it.

FYI: I started feeling panic-ish after I looked up open heart surgeries on youtube (I am a moron, clearly)

Thanks!

Breast Augmentation - Questions And Answers About

August 13th, 2011

Betty asks…

“Natural” breast augmentation fat transfer? Any ladies have experience with breast augmentation? Medical opinion?

See link above about breast augmentation fat transfer.

Does anybody know of anyone who’s had a breast augmentation done? Does a breast augmentation have lasting effects or can the fat just burn away?
Was a C before I was pregnant and then was wearing an E cup bra while nursing. I’ve weaned my baby and am aD cup now. They actually look good but could look a bit fuller (hoping for DD/E).

I don’t want or need “fake” breasts. Therefore breast augmentation comes into the game. I’ve always been proud of being natural and my husband hates fake boobs.  He (really) loves them the way they are but is open to this idea for maybe after we have our next kid in case they loose their perkyness.

breast augmentation

Alisa answers:

Honestly I don’t know much about breast augmentation fat transfer. The only reason I am typing this answer is because of this comment; “I don’t want or need “fake” breasts.” From scientific and personal point of view, your natural self is always always better and good for you than ANY unnatural thing  you do to your body, enclosed breast augementation. I know that some plastic surgeons believe that beauty can be constructed, but it is not.

I don’t know the medical side of breast augementation to help you out. But I do believe anything you do to your body that is unnatural will eventually can hurt you in the long run. Just my PERSONAL point of view.

Laura asks…

Can a second degree burn become gangrenous in the healing process ?

My daughter burned the numb underside of her breast – hence she didn’t ‘ feel ‘ herself getting burned with the heating pad – two weeks ago. She has been home treating it d/t new job and no insurance. The blisters broke – she left the skin alone/kept soaking in H2O2. The lower half of her breast, became reddened/swollen around the actual burned area. She used Neosporin OIntment w/Pain medication afterwards. Now the one blistered area is black in the middle with a couple of areas having some yellowish material exuding, small amount. I have been telling her to see a Dr. – but most places are closed after she gets off work – the Free Clinic won’t be taking new patients until March, Med Centers start at $111.00, her insurance won’t kick in for another month and a half. And Family Medicine places say that she has to get rated before they will even see her – regarding payments, etc. Any help would be appreciated on both regards. Tks. PS: She had breast augmentation 5 yrs. ago – numb since.

breast augmentation

Alisa answers:

Yes! If she can’t get to a doctor, the ER is your best bet, better to be safe and out a couple bucks than sorry later on.
I had a chemical burn on my face a year ago and the only thing that made it better was Vaseline. Vitamin E, Neosporn and several things didn’t help at all.

Ken asks…

About how much would it be for FFS if I got browbone and chin reduct, + rhinoplasty ?

I also might get tracheal shave. I think Dr. Ousterhout is supposed to be more expensive.

I might go to Dr. Spiegel. I like how he puts being subtle a priority, although I’ve looked at his photo results and almost always he is “too” subtle. Almost all his patients are still visibly trans after FFS, except two patients that came out so perfect it was amazing. Maybe if I just say to not go for being too subtle he will give me the OK.
Almost every patient I’ve seen from Dr. O were perfect in almost every way(except a few scars here and there) so I guess you get what you pay for.

So what would be the average price for Dr. O(or Spiegel) if I got browbone/chin reduct, rhinoplasty + trache?

Rhinoplasty

Alisa answers:

Dr Ousterhout is expensive. I should know I went to him many years ago. But at the time he was clearly the best rhinoplasty surgeon on the planet.

I would highly suggest you go to a local gender conference where you can meet all the major docs at once. There are conferences all over the USA. Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago and Seattle among others. At these conferences you can watch them give a presentation and afterwards get free consultations. The Big 3 are Dr Ousterhout (San Francisco), Dr Spiegel (Boston) and Dr Zukowski (Chicago).

I’m not sure what Dr Ousterhout charges now, but when I saw him back in 2005 it was about 35k. I understand that you get the same procedure of rhinoplasty done today from Dr Spiegel for a little less than that.

Go to a conference, they are very much worth it.
